In general for students residing in the UK, the college will offer a place only after a face-to-face interview with a student.
For students residing abroad, a place will only be offered after an interview by telephone.
2. TESTING
The college may ask students to sit elementary tests in mathematics and English.
3. STUDENT PROFILE
In general, we want to attract students who will benefit from education, who are motivated and who present no more than minor discipline or behavioural problems.
They should be capable of at least C grades at both GCSE and A level.
From time to time we have applications from students who have experienced difficulties in their previous school; for example, they may have seriously misbehaved or suffer from emotional problems which inhibited their educational progress.
Although a non-specialist school, we may still offer places to such students. Nevertheless, we will have the same expectations of proper behaviour and will be quick to react to any serious indiscipline.
4. ENGLISH LANGUAGE
All students must have conversational competence in English to a standard of TOEFL 500 or IELTS 5.5.
5. DISPERSION OF NATIONALITIES/QUOTAS
At present the college numbers average between 150 and 175 students per year, encompassing nearly 40 different nationalities. The college regards itself primarily as a UK based and will seek to maintain a good balance of other nationalities.
6. SPECIAL EDUCATIONAL NEEDS
The college is happy to consider application of all students. Nevertheless, bearing in mind its commitment to the needs of the great majority of students who do not have special needs, it is not a specialist school and can not offer the intensive one-to-one attention required by students with severe problems.
