EFL Programme (English as a foreign language)

Ashbourne is primarily focused towards A level and GCSE courses, and aims to recruit students that can interact with each other using the English language at a high standard. Therefore students with weak English language skills will usually, unfortunately, be rejected. However, if students have reasonable English communication skills but require a small improvement in their English language skills to compliment A level or GCSE study, then we do offer extra EFL classes. Two hours per week are allocated for these classes and each student is assigned to a group that will be tailored toward their English language requirements. The primary focus for these classes is to prepare students for their IELTS examination, which they will need to obtain a good result (usually 7.0 and above for the most competitive universities) in order to gain entry onto degree programmes.

If students wish to study English language in preparation for A level or GCSE study, then some of the following London schools should be able to offer appropriate support.
