Your Safety
The safety of employees and others, including members of the public, is paramount and at no time should any personal risk be taken.
In the event of a fire at the college, the following sequence of events will take place:
On discovering a fire, sound the fire alarm. Inform the main office of the location of the fire. Office staff will telephone the Fire Services.
The alarm system will go off when smoke or heat triggers the detectors, notifying us of the location on our fire panel on the Mezzanine Floor, and also the fire panel in the building manager’s office.
At this point all members of staff and students are required to evacuate the building via the nearest fire exit.
From here, 3 members of staff are assigned a floor each on which to conduct a quick yet thorough inspection.
Patrick Daly is assigned the 2nd floor, Fabio Carpene the 1st floor, and Tamara Laryea the Mezzanine floor. In the event that any or all of these persons are not present, admin staff have been trained to know what to do in these situations
For Young Street, Ben Pollitt is responsible for evacuating the premises. All staff are aware of what to do in the event of an emergency
These members of staff check all classrooms, toilets and offices for any students or other members of staff who may still be in the building.
Once outside of the building, all are required to congregate on the corner of Old Court Place while the Building Manager continues the remainder of the procedure, for Young Street, all should evacuate to the Fire Assembly Point which is directly opposite the main entrance, outside the Whole Foods store.
