OVERSEAS MARKETING MANAGER

Ashbourne is a private college for A levels, which specializes, in a personal approach to study. Established 25 years ago, it has earned an excellent reputation in the field of exam-orientated tuition. Overlooking Kensington Palace, it also enjoys one of the most beautiful locations in London.

Over the past 15 years, the college has invested much in time, effort and resources in developing a programme for recruiting students directly from many countries abroad. It wants to continue to support this programme with a person dedicated to representing the college overseas. Although based in London, the job will involve much travel and face-to-face meetings with schools, agencies, students and parents as well as existing and prospective students and parents.

Accountability

Maintaining and improving the quality and quantity of our directly recruited students overseas. Currently our target for direct (ie arising directly from personal visits) recruiting overseas is 25 students per year.

Maintaining and improving the quality and quantity of our liaisons abroad, such as schools and agents.

Planning, budgeting and organising overseas trips.

Preparing reports before (i.e. setting out specific objectives) and after (i.e. setting out outcome and results) for and following up all visits overseas.

Maintaining and improving the materials used to support overseas recruiting, such as newsletters, prospectuses etc.

Qualities (Personality Specification)

The job will suit a well-spoken graduate with excellent communication skills and outstanding interpersonal skills.

Working through the internet and on the telephone, the Executive/Manager should be vigorous in pursuit of internally generated leads.

He/she should be ambitious and happy to develop new contacts.

We do not require exceptional skills with IT but expect a capable understanding of and facility with elementary databases, spreadsheets and wordprocessing.

The Executive/Manager should be accurate, precise and detailed in monitoring and following up all contacts and prospects.  He/she should be comfortable dealing with elementary data concerning marketing, enquiries and conversions and with detail routine tasks as well as the interesting and challenging.

The Executive/Manager should be confident in public and be happy to make public presentations with either small or large groups, on behalf of the college.
The Executive/Manager should enjoy travel and be willing to spend at least 1/3 of year on trips abroad.

We are especially concerned to find a person with a lively personality and good sense of humour who will happily integrate with our current team.

Salary and holidays

Starting salary £22.5K to £35K

4 weeks holiday, of which at least one week taken at Xmas, and which must fit in with the rest of the management and admin team. In general, not more than two weeks should be taken at any one time. No pension or other benefits.

Reporting

Although working closely with the Principal, in the first instance the Representative will report to the Director for Overseas Admissions.
