This will last 16 minutes – ability to infer relationships from information by divergent and convergent thinking. Applicants will be given two sets of shapes (A and B). The shapes in Set A are all similar to each other in some way as are Set B. Applicants will then be given additional shapes and asked if they fit with those in Set A, B or neither. There will be 13 Sets and for each there will be 5 additional shapes (65 questions).

Question:
Do Test Shapes 1 and 2 belong to:
A: Set A
B: Set B
C: Neither Set
Answer:
Set A contains only shapes with curved sides (circles / ovals). There are no obvious other patterns – sizes and numbers vary, no obvious repeats, rotations, mirror images or direction changes. Set B contains only shapes with straight sides (squares and triangles).
Test Shape 1: B – The test shape contains only shapes with straight sides
Test Shape 2: C – The test shape contains shapes with both straight and curved sides
