Ashbourne European Trip 2010: Athens

Thursday 18th February

Ashbourne students and staff were unleashed on Athens! Some of us took the Happy Train tour around Athens, catching up on any sites and hotspots we had missed during our stay.

Throughout the week, the staff had run quizzes to see what the students had learnt about Athens and the Greek culture. Team Hermes won and their choice of prize was to visit the Athens Planetarium - one of the most famous in the world. The show was amazing and everyone really enjoyed themselves!

Another priority for the day was to find outfits for the final night, which was going to be full on Greek attire accompanied by Greek dancing and traditional food. The most creative and 'interesting' costumes were definitely Lee's and Hussein's, of which many photos were taken!

We all ventured to the restaurant dressed up and although sad it was our last night, everyone was excited to have fun!

Following dinner, we went to a Cuban bar where everyone got involved dancing salsa. Then all of a sudden, 'Happy Birthday' rang out from the DJ booth and Tamara was pulled from her seat to dance with the dance instructor in the middle of the floor - much to her embarrassment! It was a really fun night with lots of smiles and laughter all round!
