Early Childhood Studies

Overview

The BSc in Early Childhood Studies is committed to providing a genuinely interdisciplinary approach to the study of childhood and young children aged 0-8 years. Students examine issues such as child development, child health and child welfare as well as exploring topics related to young children and childhood from broader historical, psychological and sociological perspectives.
 
Structure

The first year focuses on the study of young children and the cultural influences on their lives and development; current issues and concerns in early childhood including a consideration of special needs and inclusion; and a study of research methods which will underpin your whole programme. Optional modules include: babies and toddlers, Froebel and the kindergarten, and equal opportunities.
