Easter Revision Courseguide

A Level History

Aims           

1.  To cover the Modern British and European syllabus.
2.  To build up confidence, knowledge and understanding of the fundamental elements of the syllabus.
3.  To practise questions and apply skills learnt to the various elements of the syllabus.
4.  To clarify the importance of examination technique.
5.  To answer particular queries and problems students have come across in their study of History.

 

Course Design           

The course is designed to meet the requirements laid by all major examining boards.

 
The course will emphasise:

Key knowledge
The application of that knowledge
The organisation and interpretation of historical source material
The importance of evaluating and analysing of questions and sources

 

Daily Programme           

Each session starts with a short test to enable a review of the previous day’s material.  This is followed by a short introduction of the elements that will be covered from the syllabus that day.  Students will be given the opportunity to look in detail into those areas which they find most problematic.  Students will be expected to take notes, ask and answer questions throughout the sessions.

At the end of the day a small amount of homework will be allocated so that students can consolidate the work of that day.  In addition to the outline above any particular areas of concern with regard to the syllabus may be raised by a student and time will be found for explanation and consolidation.

A report will be written and sent to each student.
