A Level Philosophy and Ethics

The following exam boards will be covered: Edexcel, OCR and AQA

Aims

1. To revise all major concepts in the core syllabus of the three examining boards as basic knowledge base.
2. To build up the student’s confidence in inherent abilities to understand fundamental concepts.
3. To apply the knowledge and understanding to answering exam questions from the boards specific to each individual student.
4. To make use of best practice as regards exam technique and revision methods.

Course Design

The course will cover the main topics of Edexcel, OCR and AQA  Philosophy and Ethics Components.  Core elements will be covered.

The course will put specific emphasis on the following:
Key ideas in philosophy, definitions of various theories, key thinkers and an outline of their theories.

Daily Programme

Each session will start with a revision test on the previous day’s work (day 1 excluded).  The objectives and synopsis of study for the day will be shared.  Problem areas will be identified on feedback from students.  The topic will be revised with revision notes provided and clarifying questions after each paragraph answered orally and in written form.  this will be followed by a discussion of how to answer an exam question on this topic and the exam question will be given as a homework.

Final Session

Students will be given an examination of the work done at the end of the week.  This will be marked and discussed.  suggestions will be made on an individual and group basis to ensure that students feel best equipped to carry on their own exam revision independently.

A written report will be sent to each student.
