Location
Hyelm’s location is its only real downside. Hyelm is located in Hampstead, in zone 2. This is likely to be a 40 minute tube journey. Hyelm is a minute’s walk from the station.
Description
Hyelm is a very large hostel. There are a number of different sizes of rooms, but most residents begin their stay in a large twin room. Each room includes a single bed, wardrobe and storage, a sink and a desk. Bathrooms and showers are shared between residents. There is a large laundry in the building, with easy to use machines at cheap rates.
There is also lots of space for the students to socialise, and events are arranged throughout the year, such as an end of term party. There are 2 TVs for student use. A large study room is available, and many areas have free WIFI. There is a small bar, although there are very strictly enforced rules about underage drinking. There is also a sporting areas with a sauna, a small gym room, and a squash court.
Meals are included in the price, and are provided in a canteen style area. These include breakfast and dinner throughout the week with additional meals on the weekend. There is also a microwave available for resident's use.
Additional Information
- There is a member of staff on site at all times. Each manager is first aid trained, and all members of staff have been CRB checked.
- On each floor there is an emergency alert button. This can be activated to alert staff in the office on the ground floor.
Prices
Hyelm is run by a charity organisation and so the rent levels are considerably lower than usual. However, it will also be necessary to pay for travelling costs to Hampstead.
