Tate

More contemporary works of art are housed at the Tate Modern and the Tate Britain. The Tate Modern is a converted power station on the south bank. Its two huge floors contain the world’s biggest collection of modern art. When you have exhausted yourself there you can take a boat down the river to the Tate Britain, on Millbank. Here, Pre-Raphaelite, Neo Classicist and Tudor paintings rub shoulders with more contemporary pieces. The gallery also displays the controversial exhibits competing for the Turner Prize. On the first Friday of each month you can explore after hours; there are special performances, music and talks.
