| The Kensington Museums |
South Kensington (2 stops on the Circle Line from Ashbourne) is home to three of London’s most famous museums. The Victoria and Albert is devoted to decorative arts. This museum has the largest collection of Renaissance sculpture and outside Italy and the largest collection of Indian art outside India. The Natural History Museum is most famous for its dinosaur exhibits, particularly the full-scale model which greets you as you come in. A large collection of living and fossil plants, animals and minerals are on display here. The Science Museum is one of the most exciting museums in London. It houses over 3,000 exhibits, tracing the entire history of western science, technology and medicine. Many of these are interactive and visitors are encouraged to be hands on.
There are many other museums and galleries throughout Central London and its suburbs. Many are free to enter although you may have to pay for special exhibitions. |
