Music

Attend a Choir

A choir is a musical ensemble by singers, usually is conducted and performed in churches, theatres or halls. Choirs can sing with or without instrumental accompaniment. Accompanying instruments vary widely, from only one such as piano or organ to a full orchestra. There are several types of music, including Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, Classical and Romantic. In London, choirs normally perform beautiful musical works in some major concert halls, churches and cathedrals, such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, The Temple Church, Westminster Abbey and Royal Albert Hall. Some famous choirs are London Concert Choir, London Philharmonic Choir, Choir of St. Luke’s, Chelsea, Choir of London and many others.

Listen to Live Jazz/Blues Music

For fans of this soulful form of music, London is a great place to enhance this interest. The best jazz bars in London are impressive, and are often small and full of true jazz fans. The atmosphere is always welcoming as well as uniquely soulful and friendly. For example, Ronnie Scotts is one of the oldest Jazz clubs the world, and since opening has featured most of the legendary names in modern jazz and jazz fusion. 606 Club is one of the best jazz clubs in Europe, with a distinctive red-brick arched doorway, and allows only British based musicians’ performances. If you want to meet up for a drink with friends and enjoy authentic blues, Ain’t Nothin’ But…is probably the ideal destination.

Listen to an Opera or Orchestra

London is particularly famous for its orchestras. Classical concerts are held at many different venues around the city, such as the Royal Albert Hall, National Theatre, Southbank Theatre and Barbican Centre, with a wide range of shows conducted and performed by conductors and orchestras from around the world. London’s orchestras include the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra and London Symphony Orchestra. Tickets should be booked in advance.
