Paris Trip

A group of students from the A Level Art department set out early from Waterloo for their day trip to Paris. The Art Department had organised a visit to the Musee D’Orsay to see first hand examples and have a closer look at the real artwork of the impressionist period. Many photographs were taken for students to bring back and use for their own art projects. The group proceeded to see some of Paris’ most famous sights, including the crystal pyramid outside the Louvre and the Centre Pompidou. It was a most enjoyable day in which students and teachers alike were allowed to bond in an out-of-college atmosphere. These trips are of great importance to the students and overall ethos of the college as they allow students to engage with their subject further and enhance their knowledge of the art world and other cultures.

Student Feedback

Melissa Murphy
“It was good to spend time with the teachers in an informal way. There was a lot of banter. We had a very nice lunch. We got to see The Musee D’Orsay, which was a great experience. It was really fun to go on a carousel with the principal. In the course of the day we were able to spend a lot of time just wandering round the city; a few of us visited some of Paris’ many vintage clothes shops.

The Paris trip gave us opportunity to bond with the teachers as friends and gave us the opportunity to independently explore a city that contrasts our own.”

Rebecca Williams
“The Paris trip was a really good experience for the art students to get to know each other. We met early in the morning and came back late at night so it was an intense, and packed day. It was a really good way to see Paris.

We had lunch at a very nice authentic French restaurant and we visited an art gallery. I really enjoyed the train journey home because it gave everyone a good opportunity to really get to know each other.”
