Equipment:
· All candidates should make sure they have at least two black pens, a ruler, pencil, rubber, and sharpener
· For some subjects colours may be needed
· Maths instruments (if appropriate)
· A calculator (if allowed, and only of the approved sort – students should check with their teachers)
· A clear, see-through bag or pencil case to contain the above
· Candidates should have their Statement of Entry and some form of ID (e.g. student card, driving iicence or passport)
· Books and studies for certain examinations where they are allowed (e.g. some English and Drama, though these frequently have to be “clean”, i.e. with no notes – teachers will advise)
Mobile phone:
Students should make sure Ashbourne has their current mobile number for last minute messages and checks
Extra Time
· Some candidates qualify for extra time in the examinations either for reasons of language or for other educational ones. These have to be certified to the College well in advance.
· The normal extra time allowance is 25%, i.e. a 1-hour exam becomes 1 hour 15 minutes and a 3-hour subject can take 3 hours 45 minutes. Students should allow for these timings in planning their movements!
What Must Not Be Brought Into The Exam
There are certain items which, whether turned on or not and whether or not students have any intention of using them, can cause disqualification from an examination and maybe even from all those already taken or to be taken. So, when candidates are sitting at the exam desk, they must not have on them the following:
· A mobile phone (it must be turned off - even the “Vibrate”, and with no alarms on) and left in your coat or bag, or given to the invigilator for safe-keeping
· Any notes, books or other unauthorized information
· An iPod, MP3/4 player, reader pens or any electronic equipment with audio or text facilities
· Any correction fluids (e.g. “Tippex”) or pens
· A non-see-through or opaque pencil case
· A coat, hat or scarf
