This will last 22 minutes – solving numerical problems. Applicants will need to extract numbers from tables, charts and graphs and manipulate them to give a meaningful outcome. There will be 10 tables or charts and 4 questions for each (40 questions). Use of a calculator is permitted.

The table below shows the miles travelled by a sales representative:

You want to find her median mileage over the 11 days. Which of these would you do?
A. Find the sixth number and divide this by 2
B. Add all the numbers together and divide by 11
C. Rearrange the numbers into numerical order and then find the sixth number
D. Find the average for each week and divide this by 2
E. Add the two middle numbers together and divide this by 2
Answer: C
The Median is the middle value. 11 is an odd number so the middle value is the sixth.
