On of the most important things about the medical school interview is that the applicant should be on time! It does not matter what excuse the applicant has; the train may have been derailed, the car may have been stolen, it makes no difference. If the applicant is not on time the interviewer will simply conclude that they do not care enough about the university place to bother to be punctual and even the most impressive of interviews will make no difference. Applicants must make sure that they know exactly how to get to where they are going and that they have allowed more time than they think they will require for travel time. It is better to arrive early and spend forty-five minutes having a cup of coffee round the corner than rush in at the last minute (or even after). If the applicant is going to be late, and there is nothing they can do about it, they should call ahead and apologise profusely. But applicants be warned; this is definitely a black mark against their application! |
