Adjustment
Very few students look forward to A level results day. For many, the anticipation of waiting to see if they have made the grade can feel much like their lives are hanging in the balance, as they contemplate having to settle for plan B or C should things not work out in their favour. Of course there is a wealth of advice available to those who come up short, but until the introduction of Adjustment, little thought was given to what could be done should a student exceed all expectations. Adjustment was introduced by UCAS in 2009, when just 382 Continue Reading →
A Level Retakes? Should You Resit?
Those who fail to achieve their A Level grades should consider retaking subjects. Some universities exclude retake students, and courses such as medicine are unlikely to accept those candidates. Thankfully, there are many good universities who will. Your success on a retake course will be helped by small class sizes, lots of individual attention, exam orientation and outstanding teaching. Ashbourne College complements this with feedback from subject teachers and personal tuition. Ashbourne Independent Sixth Form College offers two year, 18 month and a one-year intensive A Level courses, providing a wide range of subject choices. Ashbourne has decided to introduce a new examination payment scheme for the 2009/2010 academic year. In the past, Ashbourne charged a fee per module. However, we have now decided to charge for entries on a subject-by-subject basis, allowing unlimited module entries for each A Level subject. The costs for these examinations will be split over two years. Therefore, even though students are likely to sit more examinations during their A2 year than their AS year, they will be charged the same amount each year, to keep things simple.
