Ashbourne College made history at this year’s CIFE quiz, by winning the cup for the first time ever! Now in it’s third year, 11 out of the 20 CIFE colleges took part this time around, making for a very lively competition. The quiz took place at the New College of Humanities based in Bloomsbury, and involved both year 12 and year 13 students. The CIFE quiz tests general knowledge in a wide range of topics, so there was a good opportunity for everyone to chip in throughout. Team Ashbourne came second in the first round of the competition, followed by Continue Reading →

Couldn’t make laser tag? Here’s what you missed!

January 30, 2017

No, this is not an excerpt from Star Wars or some blockbuster. This is something that was said a couple of times (read: ‘a lot’), in the recently concluded Laser tag game organized by Ashbourne. Perks of being an Asher include having the opportunity to engage in fun social activities, that help build stronger social relations within the college – the laser tag game was no exception. The night started out with pre-action games such as air hockey, a couple of video games and indoor basketball arcade games. Those activities helped spur the adrenaline action in some of the students, Continue Reading →

Backstage at the Ashbourne Revue

December 16, 2016

The revue has been an essential part of Ashbourne’s history, as it offers the opportunity for the numerous talents present within the college to be showcased. This year, the revue includes acts that range from jaw dropping musical performances to captivating dramatic pieces and dance. Going behind the scenes- where the nerves are still relaxed and smiles still spontaneous- I get some insight into the feelings of a few performers in this year’s revue, as well as their opinions on the show. Technical rehearsals before the show are essential to ensure the smooth running of the event, because ‘to be Continue Reading →

Amy Hyam was one of Ashbourne’s brightest stars in A level art. She joined us in September 2014, and immediately displayed an incredible talent and an eye for intricate detail that made her work stand out. Amy scooped the Park Gallery Prize for Drawing and Painting at Leighton House during her time here , resulting in her work being displayed for 6 months at a local business. Her amazing work was part of many of Ashbourne’s events, including the Creative Arts Exhibition in March. This is why it came as no surprise to hear of her involvement in this year’s Continue Reading →

Ashbourne Student Council charity bake sale – Friday 4th November

October 31, 2016

Back in March, we were so proud of student Maria Selyanina and former student Olamide Abolarinwa and their efforts to raise money for good causes. Maria decided to hold a bake sale to raise money for Children with Cancer. Her cakes were absolutely delicious and went down a storm around the college! Olamide got in touch to tell us about her challenge to raise money for Hope for Children by climbing Kilimanjaro. She put in lots of hard work in preparation for the challenge, which was to be expected for someone who was always such an amazing student during her Continue Reading →
