With only seven weeks left before Christmas, Ashbourne has entered an exciting period of events and activities, in addition to all the clubs and societies that run throughout the academic year. Here are some dates for the diaries of all Ashers – past, present and future. As you will see, we have a lot of things going on, some of which will be familiar to all Ashbourne-watchers, while others are a little out of the ordinary, not to say unique!
Parents’ Evening
Having just held a very successful and lively Parents’ Evening, we will be hosting an Open Evening on Wednesday the 12th of November. This is a great opportunity for prospective Ashers and their parents to meet staff and students, and to discover what is distinctive about this College. It will be followed by the second round of our popular Drama and Music scholarship auditions on the 22nd of November.

Trip to Cambridge
Ashbourne is committed to a programme of highly stimulating and entertaining educational trips. Following our recent visit to Cambridge, to which we took a group of potential Oxbridge candidates, we are running a trip to Barcelona. This visit, organized by the Art Department between the 15th and 18th of November, is bound to be a cultural extravaganza, with visits to a wide range of museums, galleries and monuments.
Art trip to Barcelona
Meanwhile, in the third week of November, a rather different kind of field trip will be made to the opposite side of the Iberian peninsula, in the form of the Algarve Biology expedition – a vital but also enjoyable part of the Biology curriculum.
Staff Student bowling
Fun is, to be honest, the only purpose of the Students versus Staff Bowling competition on the 3rd of December, probably the College’s second most important forthcoming event.
Ashbourne Revue
Perhaps the most significant occasion of all, for which lavish preparations are already being made, is the Christmas Revue and Fashion Show on the 13th of December. This is set to be one of the most colourful and exciting Revues ever, for which tickets will shortly be available. Don’t miss this climax to the year!
And, I almost forgot, our esteemed Director of Studies Mr John Wilson is tying the knot in December. We sincerely wish him and Sarah a wonderful day and a very happy future together.
