Sometimes revising can be very stressful, but it doesn’t have to be….
Seeing as Easter Revision has finally come around, we thought it would be handy to share a series of tips to help you keep your sanity and prevent you from tearing your hair out in the process!
Panicking about revision only hinders revision. Have you ever tried to read notes that were written in a panic? It’s a nightmare. The more you relax, the clearer your mind will be, enabling you to focus on the task at hand. Take deep breaths, drink chamomile tea, do whatever you need to do in order to maintain calm.
2. Create summary notes that suit you
Sometimes our brains have funny ways of remembering things. The way someone else takes notes may not necessarily be a way that you find helpful. Whether it’s pictures, short notes or clever quotes, find whatever works for you and stick to it
3. Get enough rest
A tired mind and body will be of no use to you when it’s time to revise, so getting a good night’s sleep is a must. If you have a habit of staying up until the early hours of the morning watching Netflix, you are guaranteed to struggle when it comes to doing anything productive the next day!
4. Eat and drink well
Eating well and staying hydrated will help you to keep your concentration. If you’ve skipped a meal and you’re being deafened by the sound of your empty, rumbling stomach, your revision may suffer. In addition to food, your fluid intake is crucial for keeping you alert.
5. Remember to have fun
The saying about ‘all work and no play’ definitely applies to revision. Find yourself something fun to do in your down time. Whilst revision is important, so is having a break to take your mind off of it.
6. Think positive
It won’t always be easy, but the hard work you’re putting in now will pay off in the end. Try to think positive and remind yourself why you are doing this. Have faith in your abilities – you already know this stuff!
