Ashbourne placed 3rd at the CIFE Inter-college quiz challenge!

Ashbourne College at CIFE quiz challenge

Last weekend saw Ashbourne College go up against A level colleges from London and beyond in the CIFE Inter-college Quiz Challenge. We are please to say that we came third against teams from Bath Academy, Bosworth College, Carfax College, CCSS, Collingham College, CTC, MPW Birmingham and MPW London! We entered the competition with a person down, which resulted in a team of 3 (most other teams had 4-5 members), so to come third is even more impressive!

The competition was held at the New College of Humanities in Bedford Square, and the questions covered everything from pop culture to science. Towards the end of the first part of the competition, Ashbourne topped the table when Susannah Bain answered a question about Bastille's Day - 'In the band Bastille, name the day of the year that the main singer was born?' to which she replied "July 14th".

CIFE A level college quiz - answers

It was looking good for the team until a question about Eastenders came up... "What is the name of the actor who plays the longest running male role?" to which Luke Hammett answered "Marlon Brando". The team should have been awarded extra points for the best sense of humour!
The team came third overall, behind Collingham (1st place) and CTC (2nd place) - Well done team!
