Ashbourne Allstars smash the first game of the season!

Ashbourne Allstars made a very promising start to the 2018/2019 season with a 5-0 victory over local rivals MPW. The Allstars welcomed three new players to the squad in Ludovico, Arvin and George, who all made a great contribution.
From the off, Ashbourne were on the front foot with Keanu Zalgloul capitalising from a defensive error early on with a tidy finish into the bottom left to put the Allstars ahead. Ashbourne continued to put pressure on MPW’s defence, winning a free kick within shooting range which Arman Jafari drove confidently through the wall and into the bottom left.
Going into halftime, Ashbourne were confidently 2-0 ahead with no signs of slowing the pressure.
A tactical change over half time allowed MPW’s wide men to see more of the ball. This led to a few decent attempts on goal, to which goalkeeper Alex Repetto stepped up firmly to keep Ashbourne’s clean sheet in tact.
Arman doubled his tally, making it 3-0 to Ashbourne with a great use of his physical presence in the no.10 role to find the bottom right with a clinical finish.
Keanu matched Arman’s brace to make it 4-0, sliding the ball under the keeper after some good interplay with his no.10 counterpart.
Some excellent play throughout the game culminated with the final goal for Ashbourne, a superb passing move finished clinically by a shot from Kaan Keskin.
After this exciting start to the season, the Allstars must keep their feet firmly on the ground as we will face tougher opposition and must ensure that attention to detail against stronger opposition is maintained.
