Another nail biting game for the Ashbourne Allstars last night, who suffered an unlucky loss against Duff Miller. Here's how the gam played out:
Team Line-up:
Charlie - Goalkeeper
Barry - Defender
Ilya - Defender
Marwan - Midfielder
Antonio - Midfielder
Yobel - Midfielder
Michael - Midfielder
Djordje - Striker
Subs:
Naeto
Ali
In what was an extremely dominant performance by the Allstars, played in difficult conditions, Duff Miller came away with a fortuitous win by 3 goals to 2.
The Allstars took the lead 5 mins into the first half when Marwan played an inch perfect pass into the path of Yobel, who finished with great composure to give the Allstars the lead. The Allstars were in complete control of the game when Duff Miller equalised due to a lapse in concentration from our defenders.
The first half ended 1-1.
The Allstars came out on the front foot in the second half, laying siege to the Duff Miller goal in search of a second goal.It eventually came when some neat play involving Michael, Antonio and Marwan, found Naeto on the left wing who played Djordje in to finish and make it 2-1.
The next 15 mins produced 14 shots on target from the Allstars, who went in search of the crucial 3rd goal which would have put the game to bed. Chance after chance went begging, owing to a culmination of a magnificent performance from the Duff Miller keeper and some poor finishing from the Allstars. The Allstars were caught on the counter attack twice in quick succession for Duff Miller to go 3-2 in the lead.
With the last kick of the game almost came an equaliser for the Allstars, when Marwan lofted a great ball over the top to Djordje who attempted to guide the ball into the goal, but the ball bounced agonisingly over the bar with the keeper beaten.
The Allstars now require 2 wins from their last 2 games and hope that MPW lose or draw a game, to take the title.
