In what was a must win game to draw level on points with league leaders MPW, the Allstars put in what was deemed their best ever performance since the Allstars formed in 2013.
The Allstars played some really good football in the early exchanges and almost went 1-0 ahead when Djordje, who put in an outstanding performance in his new position as defender, unleashed a thunderous effort from distance which the goalkeeper finger tipped behind for a corner.
MPW came into the game and took the lead very fortuitously after a weak shot from distance somehow found it into the back of our net. 0-1 MPW.
The Allstars all needed to pull together and show character if they wanted to win the game and that they did. Barry began to dominate everything at the back with Djordje and the midfield of Michael, Antonio, Marwan and Sanzhar took control in Midfield with Alex up front holding the ball up and bringing others into play extremely well.
The Allstars fashioned chance after chance in search of the equaliser with Antonio, Marwan and Michael all going close with the opposition goalkeeper making some fine saves.
The half time came to a close with the Allstars losing 0-1. They needed to regroup and be given assurances that if they continued to play like this we could win.
The second half started with the Allstars in complete dominance and sure enough after at least 10 clear cut opportunities were saved by their keeper, he could do nothing to stop Antonio's rocket shot after great play from Michael and Marwan who released Antonio to strike left footed in to the back of the net. 1-1.
The Allstars went in search of the winner and almost went behind against the run of play after an MPW free kick struck our post.
The Allstars created chance after chance and it began to look like their keeper would save the day for MPW, but in what was the last kick of the game, he attempted to hit a long goal kick which rebounded off their defender and Michael anticipated the ricochet and managed to toe in the ball from close range to give the Allstars a much deserved win in what was an outstanding display of Football. 2-1 Allstars.
The win now takes us joint top with MPW on 9 points, 3 points clear of the chasing pack.
WELL DONE ALLSTARS
