The Ashbourne Allstars have started the new season (January - March) in fantastic fashion.
In their first game against Ealing they came away with a 15-0, YES, 15-0 win. Keanu scored 6, Lawrence 4, Arman 2, Kaan 2 and Ben scored 1. It was an emphatic victory and some of the football was outstanding.
In our second game, we came up against a very impressive Collingham team, but we grabbed a 1-0 win with Bader scoring a superb free kick in the 2nd half.
Last night we played arch rivals MPW. In recent years, MPW have proved to be our toughest opponents. The Allstars dominated the first half and took a 2-0 lead through a superb left footed strike from Angelo Di Gianvito and a clinical finish from Will Mattin.
The second half started well and we should have further increased our lead but the MPW goalkeeper was in Spiderman mood and saved every chance we had in the opening 10 mins. MPW soon went up the other end and controversially scored after the ref had adjudged the ball to have not gone out of play even though it clearly had.
The game then got very scrappy and there were a few strong challenges from both teams as MPW chased an equaliser. With 5 minutes left to play, Lawrence put the game to bed with a superb finish.
This evening we play CATS college and hopefully continue this excellent run of form.
