Ashbourne College student comes top 3 in Oxford Computing Challenge!

January 20, 2016

Last week, we told you all about our A-level student Alex Vlasto, who had been invited to Oxford to take part in Computing Challenge on Saturday 16th January. As suspected, Alex did BRILLIANTLY! Only a select few of the 57,000 students that enter the UK Bebras Computing Challenge got invited to Oxford, and Alex came 3rd overall!

When asked about his experience at Oxford, Alex said “The test itself was really fun and challenging and Oxford itself is beautiful”. Oxford does not offer the practical, hands-on approach to computing that Alex is looking for in his further studies, but he did learn some interesting things from a fourth year Computer Science student on the day. The group were also given lectures by a few of the professors associated with Hertford College, which was also useful.
