Ashbourne College students have been taking part in the National Cipher Challenge since mid October, and as expected, they have been doing an amazing job! So what’s the challenge all about?
The National Cipher Challenge is an online code breaking challenge that attracts entrants from over 700 schools each year. The competition consists of 8 challenges, and teams are given one challenge per week. Collectively, the challenges tell a story, and entrants need to crack encrypted messages to reveal what it is. This year, the challenge is to get to the bottom of the mysterious death of young scientist. Jamelia.
Points are awarded for accuracy and also for speed, which is why our team Ash2016, is doing so well! They came flying out of the gates for the first challenge, and then went on to tackle the second one with ease. Their fantastic performance so far has earned them a spot on the Cipher Challenge leaderboard! www.cipherchallenge.org/leaderboard
The next challenge will be revealed after half term. Good luck to Ned Boulter, JiaZheng Zhu, Luciano Martino and Joscelyn Olivier who are representing for us!
