Staff vs Student Bowling – The REMATCH!

Back in September, at the beginning of term when the new students were still shy and settling in to their Ashbourne life, we organised a trip to the bowling alley down the road. A big group of students and staff had a couple of friendly games of bowling and some food. There was no clearly defined “winner” of the evening, just a fun and relaxed time, and a great way to welcome the students to the college.
This time however, was different. A return to the old ways, if you will. By now, all the students are settled in to Ashbourne, confident in their social standing. Some might say they are even getting a bit too confident. It was time to take them down a peg… with Bowling Staff v Students – Round 2!
Ashbourne College London - Bowling rematch!
The weather was dark and cloudy, threatening rain as we marched down to Queens Ice & Bowl, located just the other side of the park in Queensway. Upon arrival, we split into four teams – two students and two staff. Already it was clear that the staff were outnumbered 3 to 2, but what is an Ashbourne bowling night without a challenge? Cheers and groans echoed around the alley as strike after strike was scored, gutter ball after gutter ball rolled miserably down the side of the aisle. At the end of the first game it was not clear who was winning, but by the end of the night it had become sadly apparent – the students had gained victory.
We of course put this down to the fact that there were far more students than staff, but we will definitely be taking this further at Go Karting, in just a couple of weeks!
All in all, it was a great night. Bowling is a staple trip for Ashbourne, and every time it is enjoyed by everyone.
