Virtual Open Week Summer 2020 – A level Subject Webinars

Since Ashbourne College moved all of its teaching to Online Distance Learning in March 2020, our Teachers and Admissions Staff have been working hard to provide some excellent content to help inform applicants about the fantastic support and life-changing experiences that Ashbourne can offer.
What would normally have been an Open Evening became almost an Open Month, with 21 (and counting) different online webinars and events on our A-level subjects and Specialist Programmes across May and June.

Whilst our doors may have closed, the Ashbourne community remains as connected as ever!
Ashbourne College Virtual Open Week
This period started with three different webinars presented by our Director of Studies, Lee Kirby, which included an overview of Ashbourne’s response to coronavirus presented to the Ashbourne community, as well as information talks on the A-Level system and UCAS application process, presented to potential applicants, families and educational agents.
Continuing this momentum, each of Ashbourne’s A-Level subjects was given its own webinar led by our fantastic teaching staff. Whilst for some this was a new and strange experience, they were a great success, allowing applicants to learn more about their subject choices, ask questions and, most importantly, meet their teachers. Many of these webinars included Q+A’s with some of our current students who were able to share their experiences and give tips and advice to new Ashers!
Amongst all of this, Ashbourne launched its ‘Super-curricular Library’, a database of over 1000 different books, films, work experience opportunities and online courses that Ashbourne students can use to gain vital experience and strengthen their university application.
We also had two successful webinars on our Oxbridge Entry and Medical School Programme, as well as an internal workshop on applying to an American University.
