The ESAT (Engineering and Science Admissions Test) is a new admissions test being introduced for students applying to certain science and engineering courses at university. Designed to assess more than just factual knowledge, the ESAT focuses on your ability to apply mathematical and scientific understanding to unfamiliar and often complex problems, much like an engineer or scientist would in the real world.
The test challenges students to think logically, work under pressure, and approach questions creatively and analytically. It’s particularly relevant for technical degrees such as Electronic and Electrical Engineering, and is becoming an important part of the admissions process at top universities.
The ESAT will be delivered online via Pearson VUE, with testing windows scheduled for October 2025 and January 2026 for students applying for 2026 entry.
At Ashbourne College, we recognise that success in the ESAT comes from more than just strong subject knowledge, it requires targeted preparation and the ability to think flexibly under timed conditions. That’s why we offer support for admissions tests like the ESAT, including personalised one-to-one guidance. With our tailored approach, students are equipped not only to face the test with confidence, but also to strengthen the skills they’ll need to succeed at university and beyond.
