Just a quick hello from sunny and warm Aljezur, Portugal! The A2 biology team have had an amazing time so far walking along the beautiful dunes and beaches of the Algarve. They are working very hard to get to know the numerous new and exciting ecosystems they are coming across and are really looking forward to getting their investigations started tomorrow.

Check out a selection of the events that happened this half term. Ashbourne Adventure Day The term kicked off with an immensely fun Activities Day for all new students. Students were taken out and treated to spectacular views of London on a fleet of Duck Buses; these buses became boats and students experienced London in all its sunlit beauty. Everyone had lunch in the crypt beneath Trafalgar Square, and spent the afternoon playing games in Kensington Gardens. The Allstars gained a very hard fought win against very good opposition. After last weeks loss to CIC, the boys wanted to make amends and quickly took the lead after 3 minutes through Mark Koziritskiy. The Allstars began to dominate and could have added to the lead but were thwarted by the opposition goalkeeper on numerous occasions. The Allstars tactics of a swift counter attacking style paid off towards the end of the game, when Dean Bonsu received the ball on his favoured left foot and calmly finished to make it 2-0. Performing arts are thriving at Ashbourne College, and continue to go from strength to strength. Drama has increased in popularity over the last few years, and has produced some incredibly students. In 2014, two groups of A-level Drama and Theatre Studies students took productions to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and have since gone on to work on a variety of projects. Our music department also continues to grow. Ashbourne music students often provide the soundtrack to events such as art exhibitions and showcases, as well as take part in an annual chamber concert held at various venues.
