At Ashbourne, GCSE students benefit from a flexible course structure where all subjects are delivered in one year. Year 10 students focus on core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science before moving on to optional subjects in Year 11, while students joining in Year 11 can take all subjects in one year without being disadvantaged. All GCSE students continue on to our A-level programme, allowing us to begin the university application process early. To strengthen their supercurricular profile and improve their chances of success at competitive universities, each student completes the Ashbourne Mini EPQ annually, developing a deeper understanding of their chosen topics.
Our GCSE programme provides a strong foundation that equips students with the skills and knowledge to achieve academic success. Our A-level results are consistently outstanding, with over 60% of graduates progressing to Russell Group universities, with UCL being the most popular destination, and more than 50% A*A grades achieved on average over the past ten years. The College has received two consecutive Outstanding ratings from Ofsted and ranks in the top 2.5% of schools in the UK for value added.
Small class sizes, individual attention, and a caring environment underpin our success, along with a mature approach where there is no school uniform and students are on a first-name basis with teachers. We go the extra mile to help every student achieve their potential, and exceptional candidates may even start A-level studies early, whether in Year 10 or Year 11. This flexible and distinctive approach makes Ashbourne an exceptional place to study.
