Ashbourne College European Trip 2010: Athens

In February 2010, 28 students and 7 staff visited Athens for the annual European Trip. It was a great week, packed with fun and cultural visits and by the end of it, none of us wanted to come home!

“It was an amazing opportunity to get to know new people and make new friends as well as become closer with old friends. I had a lot of fun and it was a great opportunity to learn about the Greek culture.”

Danisia

“I liked everything about the trip. The food was amazing and I’ve never tasted seafood that fresh and delicious. I liked that the activities on the trip were so varied and my highlight was visiting the planetarium. I’m really glad I went.”

“Having gone on the last Ashbourne European trip to Madrid and had so much fun, I had to go on this year’s! My favourite part was our excursion to Hydra, it was such as beautiful and peaceful place. I have never been anywhere like that before, it was like Heaven on earth. This trip only encouraged me to visit more of the beautiful Mediterranean!’”

“This was my first time on the Ashbourne European trip and it was a wonderful experience! Not only was Athens an amazing city to visit and explore but it was a great opportunity to get to know the students better and learn about their cultures too. It was a pleasure to see different groups of students bonding and having fun!”

Veronica

“We did a lot of exploring and walking which was really cool as I had the chance to take lots of photos, the places we visited and scenery was amazing! I have great memories from the day that we flew kites and had a picnic on the beach. It was so chilled and relax and playing games on the beach until the evening was a great way to bond with other friendship groups and make friends. I’ll never forget that day.”

Sarah

“I had never visited Greece but as I love history and had read about the Ancient Greeks, I was really excited to visit Athens. The Parthenon was everything I expected and more, there was such amazing history. We visited it twice and on the second time which was during our free day, I booked a tour guide and we had lots of fun learning more about the ancient ruins.

As I am in my final year at Ashbourne, unfortunately this was my first and last trip, but I wish I could come back!”
