Ashbourne’s Online Distance Learning Programme

Ashbourne has launched an online-only A-Level programme for students based overseas to complement its highly successful A-Level and GCSE courses taught at the college. The programme is designed to cater for the increased demand for online courses from international students unsure about relocating to the UK for September 2021.

Ashbourne’s Online Distance Learning Programme was first established in March 2020 to make it possible for our students to continue their full timetable of A level and GCSE classes whilst the college premises were closed, in compliance with UK Government regulations to help reduce the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). The Programme continues to enable our students to carry on their education with as little disruption as possible. All online lessons are delivered live-stream through a class-wide audio-visual call by their teachers using Google Meet. This allows students to see and hear their teacher, engage with their teachers and classmates and view on-screen illustrations of examples and learning materials provided by the teacher to support the lesson.

Our teachers also set and collect homework using Google Classroom. Students submit their work via this platform which can then be reviewed in lesson time or through personal feedback online. Class assignments, subject tests and mocks were also set via the platform. Teachers and students are able to monitor work completion and progress using this platform.

Ashbourne has additionally developed complementary online resources, such as video lectures, for extra revision to support our students and provided access to Unifrog, an online platform that allows students to continue working on their university applications remotely, with expert guidance and support from their teachers.

Ashbourne’s Online Distance Learning Programme continues to run during lockdown and, when the premises are open, for students who are unable to attend classes in person for specific reasons relating to COVID-19. Overseas students will be able to take part in lessons, conducted by the teacher in the classroom with the rest of the class, using our online learning platform and resources.

We believe that our Online Distance Learning Programme will enable students from all over the world to benefit from Ashbourne’s high quality tuition, exceptional individual attention and personalised support, allowing them to reach the highest grades.

Why Choose Ashbourne College?

Ashbourne has broadened my academic and personal horizons beyond any expectation I may have had when I first arrived here. I think a good school gets you where you want to go, but an outstanding school takes you to a place beyond what you would ever have envisaged for yourself, and therefore I can only describe Ashbourne as an outstanding and incredible place to study. As planned, having finished my A levels, I am now entering into my gap year in order to pursue my entrepreneurial ambitions. I intend to gain work experience in the business sector im entering into, in hope to build a strong foundation of authentic understanding and knowledge of the industry, on which I hope to build a successful business in the near future

Gained responsibility and independence and has a mature approach to their studies
Since starting work at Ashbourne in September, I was impressed by the amazing sense of community. The students’ combat differences in culture, age and circumstance to form fantastic relationships, and are strongly aided in the support and friendship from teaching and admin staff. Students are always given the attention they deserve, and these factors create a unique atmosphere for successful learning.
