Ambitious, hardworking and happy students

We are very proud of our students’ achievement and acknowledge the primary importance of their effort.

Without their ambition, determination and hard work, combined with the dedication and expertise of our teachers and staff, the college would not be as successful as it is.

Individual attention and performance

The individual attention each student receives makes all the difference to their academic performance and places Ashbourne in the top 5% of UK schools and colleges for ‘value added’.

We make forecasts for each student’s final A level results at the beginning of their time at the college and measure their performance throughout to help them excel.

Each A level student is assigned a dedicated Personal Tutor who will provide the individual academic and pastoral support and guidance throughout their time at the college.

This includes expert careers advice and one-to-one UCAS support to help choose a course that is right, write a compelling personal statement, practise for interview, all the way to accepting the best offer.

We find that students who perform best at Ashbourne are those who consistently take advantage of the excellent support and guidance on offer.

This involves regular one-to-one meetings with teachers outside of class, subject-specific clinics, support classes and peer group mentoring.

Outstanding Ofsted Report

Ashbourne was judged by Ofsted to be outstanding in all areas including overall effectiveness; quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management; sixth form provision. Read the full report.

University-style learning

Ashbourne is not a traditional school, so students enjoy much more freedom, flexibility and choice.

We work with each student to design an educational programme that best suits their ambitions and aptitude.

This provides the space to develop and express their own ideas. Lessons in small class sizes encourage independent thinking, creativity and imagination.

Within this university-style learning environment we offer the individual and comprehensive support needed for students to achieve their goals.

My experience at Ashbourne has been life changing. Without the care and personal attention I was given I would not be the independent and thorough student which I consider myself to be.

— Lewis, A*A*A, studying English Literature at Cambridge University

Student welfare and happiness

Student welfare and happiness are among our most important goals.

We offer comprehensive support to help students feel secure and confident and we expect everyone to play their part in making the college a friendly, safe and dynamic place to learn.

This reflects our grown-up approach to education which promotes mutual respect, tolerance and collaboration.

Superb location

Ashbourne is situated on the borders of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens and is within walking distance from many world-class attractions.

London is a fantastic place to live and study and we encourage students to take advantage of what the city has to offer, such as galleries, museums, architecture, theatre, film, festivals, restaurants, nightlife and shopping.

A great place to learn

The wide selection of subjects on offer attracts students from all over the world comprising around 50 different nationalities.

With them they bring a wealth of ideas, talents and culture making the college a vibrant and exciting place to learn.

Most of our students develop a great affection for Ashbourne and form lasting friendships.
