Ashbourne High School
One of the best high schools in London

Ashbourne is one of the best high schools in London and has been delivering highly successful A level and GCSE courses for more than 35 years. We embrace a friendly, informal and adult approach to learning, much like a university, which we believe encourages independent thinking, discipline and high expectations.

We offer outstanding opportunities for ambitious and hardworking students who will benefit from the individual support and choice we offer to help our students reach the highest grades. Our students consistently achieve excellent exam results, placing the college in the top two among similar high schools in London, with more than 50% of our students going on to Russell Group universities including UCL, Imperial College, LSE, Oxford and Cambridge.

Students can choose from an excellent range of A level subject choices, without restriction, and course types including Two-year A level courses, One-year A level courses, 18-month A level courses, Transfers from AS to A2 (changing exam boards), A level retake (resit) courses, A level Easter Revision courses and GCSE courses.

Students are taught in small groups of fewer than 10, which allows teachers to address students’ individual needs, provide feedback and to set more assignments. This small-class environment is ideal for students to fully engage with the topics and understanding of the subject. Half-termly mock exams help students and teachers assess progress and identify areas to work on. Ashbourne places great emphasis on teaching exam technique which we feel is crucial to getting get best results.

Building students’ confidence is critical to their success so every Ashbourne A level student is assigned a dedicated Personal Tutor who provides individual academic and pastoral support and guidance throughout their time at the college. This includes expert careers advice and one-to-one UCAS support, from choosing the right course, interview practice all the way to accepting the best offer. We also offer specialised university application programmes for competitive courses such as Medicine and Engineering and entry to Oxford and Cambridge Universities.

Ashbourne attracts students from all over the world and is situated in a fantastic part of London, close to world-class venues and establishments, making the college a vibrant, diverse and exciting place to learn. We believe that student happiness is our greatest achievement.

Why Choose Ashbourne College?

I loved the casualness between teacher and student and also I loved the fact that I was essentially, the one responsible for myself and parents were not frequently contacted for any reason i.e to sign up for clubs etc. The responsibility- to turn up on time, to hand in homework on time, to revise effectively- all being left to me, really spurred on me to be productive and hard working. I hope to eventually be working in the city as a trader for a large bank, after doing this in the short term I hope to take money I have saved and open a fashion retail store that stocks up and coming brands in London somewhere. I genuinely feel like Ashbourne has given me the confidence i once lacked to be able to do this

Academic excellence in a relaxed atmosphere! Small classes means that the teachers are able to give the students the dedicated attention that they need not only to succeed but also to understand the material taught. This is a nurturing institution that equips students with all the tools they need in future. I would certainly recommend this school to anyone – but saying this I do not want Ashbourne to lose the close knit family relationship that my daughter enjoys with faculty staff, teachers and students. So I want this to remain as a closely guarded secret!!
Ashbourne is a wonderful place to teach and an even better place to study. The staff treat the students as adults and the mutual respect results in a relaxed university approach to study. Teaching classes that only have a max of 10 allows for individual tuition and greater differentiation within the groups helping the students grow in confidence and develop a love for their subjects. I really like the fact that students are encouraged to refer to their tutors by their first name and feel that this breaks down tutor/student boundaries and means that the students are confident in asking for help. Brilliant students, brilliant tutors, great place to work
